A new memorial is now in place to remember a Saskatchewan conservation officer. Justin Knackstedt was killed on May 31, 2013 when he was struck by a drunk driver while assisting RCMP at a crash scene on Highway 11.

He was only 23 years old.

The memorial, 8.5 kilometres south of Saskatoon on the east side of Highway 11, commemorates Knackstedt’s memory and sacrifice.

“Justin was an exceptional young man, who was dedicated to serving his province,” said Cal Schommer, vice-president of the Saskatchewan Association of Conservation Officers.

“He was a great friend, co-worker and his passion, commitment and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
