Quebec City – Emergency crews are at the scene of a diesel leak in the St. Lawrence River near the Port of Quebec.
An estimated 7,500 litres of diesel spilled from the Louis Jolliet day-cruise ship into the river early Sunday morning.
Sarah Leblond, spokesperson for Croisières AML which owns the Louis-Jolliet, said the leak was noticed at around 7:00 a.m. and that emergency protocols were immediately put in place.

Emergency crews, installed floating booms to contain the fuel and pumping began shortly thereafter.
The clean-up operation is expected to wrap up at 4:00 p.m.
According to Leblond, the leak stemmed from a small reservoir that overflowed due to an electrical problem.
An internal investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the spill.
