WINNIPEG — A panel discussion on the future of the Kapyong Barracks on Kenaston Boulevard will explore what an urban reserve would look like there.
The discussion will take place at the Canadian Mennonite University Wednesday, providing a chance for conversation between people who live in the area and the First Nations who want the land.
The 159-acre site was a former Canadians forces base, vacated in 2004. The Department of National Defence declared the site surplus.
First Nations in the province have debated this and laid claim, battling the Canadian government in court for years.
The event starts at 7:00 p.m and is a follow-up to two panel discussion the university previously hosted. Admission is free and open to the public.
