MONTREAL – Global News has learned that the agglomeration council that makes up all the cities and towns on the island of Montreal has purchased a large part of land on Angell Woods from one of the three private owners.

The owner’s name and company is not being revealed tonight but Global News has learned the owner is locally based.

That means the land purchased does not belong to Diana Shahmoon, the Long Island, NY resident who is in legal dispute with Beaconsfield and Montreal for purchase of her land.

Beaconsfield’s long term goal is to buy all the land from the owners and convert Angell Woods into a public nature park.
The city also plans to allow limited development of a housing project parallel to Elm Avenue.
