Parking fees at MUHC reduced due to complaints

MONTREAL- The MUHC’S parking committee has decided to lower their express parking rate to $30 from $50.

That’s 30$ for parking whether you stay  60 minutes or 24 hours.

“Since the MUHC opened we’ve gotten complaints, so we’re committed to reducing our rates,” Imma Franco, Chair of the MUHC parking committee told Global News Wednesday.

Other parking services will also get an overhaul.

The MUHC’s parking committee is looking at trying to balance patients’ concerns with a $266 million loan they took out to build the hospital’s parking facilities.

Other Montreal area hospitals have parking rates that vary between $6 and $20 a day.

For the underground visitor parking at the Super-hospital, the maximum rate is $25 after 90 minutes.

In September, Quebec’s ombudsman Raymonde Saint-Germain said she would investigate the MUHC’s parking fees.

The recommendations of the parking committee and the new rates are expected to come into effect by the end of November.
