Body identified as former Lethbridge football star

LETHBRIDGE – Friends say a body found in a south side Lethbridge park Monday morning was that of former Lethbridge Collegiate Institute football star Brock Ramias.

Lethbridge police responded to a call of a body found in Kinsmen Park just after 8 a.m. Monday. An investigation is ongoing, but police said there is no risk to the public.

The 20-year-old was a high school football star with the LCI Rams, winning league awards as both top running back and top linebacker during his final season in 2012. He was named to the Alberta senior bowl for top graduating players in 2013 and played with the Calgary Colts of the Canadian Junior Football League in 2014.

This season he had joined the coaching ranks as a volunteer at LCI.

Police haven’t yet released a cause of death; they said an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday in Calgary.
