HOUSTON – Emergency personnel have rescued six workers from piles of rubble and twisted metal after scaffolding collapsed at a seven-story building under construction in downtown Houston.
A Houston Fire Department statement says all six workers were taken to hospitals Friday morning. The department says the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. No other details were provided on the conditions of the injured.

Firefighters continued to search for more people possibly trapped under the rubble.

The accident happened at a residential complex across the street from Minute Maid Park, home of baseball’s Houston Astros. Debris was scattered along most of a city block.
