WINNIPEG — Manitoba Hydro crews are still busy after a wind storm tore through the province over the long weekend.

Wind gusts of over 90 km/h brought down trees and hydro lines.

Manitoba Hydro says the hardest hit areas in Winnipeg were Richmond West, St. Norbert and part of East Kildonan.

Outside of the Perimeter Highway, the utility said the damage was widespread with crews working in Brandon, Russell, Portage la Prairie, Carman, St. Claude, Altona, Winkler, Morden and through the Interlake.

Hydro said by 10:30 p.m. Monday all the major restoration was finished, with the exception of some communities in the northeast part of the province.

A spokesperson tells Global News the high winds prevented crews for working on the outage in the area of Berens River and Poplar River.

Scott Powell says an aerial assessment of the line feeding those communities started Tuesday morning to find the issue.
