WINNIPEG — There will be no excuse to not get outdoors and and work off all those extra calories we’ll be consuming over the Thanksgiving long weekend.

Well, Saturday and Sunday anyway.

Monday is a bit of a different story.

Sunshine is going to dominate the skies in Winnipeg and much of southern Manitoba for the weekend.

In Winnipeg, we are forecast to hit a high of 25 C on Saturday. That could potentially be a record breaker.

October 11th, 1942 Winnipeg reached 26.1 C so there is a chance we could surpass that mark if we’re lucky.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Sunday is a bit “cooler” with a high of 23 C but that’s still 11 degrees above the seasonal normal for this time of the year. The record for October 12th was set back in 1934 when it was a scorcher of 27.8 C. Doesn’t look like we’ll be breaking any records on Sunday.

Unfortunately we come crashing back down to reality on Monday with a chance of showers, cloudy skies and only a high of 14 C.

Looking back at the numbers this will be the warmest Thanksgiving weekend since 2013. Highs over the weekend surpassed 20 C on both days.

Strangely enough the holiday Monday has always been the cooler day of the long weekend through the years.

So get out and enjoy the warm weather! We may not see temperatures like this again until well into 2016.
