Calgarian Terry Moore is kicking off the new NHL season with a tribute to one of the most beloved players in Flames’ history.

It features a discarded piggy bank for a head, with a piece of metal Moore found and cut to look like McDonald’s famous bushy moustache.

McDonald was the team’s captain when the Flames won the Stanley Cup in 1989.

Moore’s now hoping to recycle the magic for the 2015-16 season.

“Lanny is the spirit of Calgary,” said Moore

“He played the game from the heart and he’s our good luck charm.”

He’ll have the bird feeder hanging in his front yard throughout the hockey season.

“I shall make sure this is filled with bird feed,” said Moore, adding, “because losing is for the birds, and we’re not losers.”
