Train rail pins New Brunswick crane operator in industrial accident

HARVEY, N.B. – A crane operator in New Brunswick was pinned to the controls of his machine by a train rail Tuesday in an industrial accident.

A news release from the volunteer fire department in Harvey says the worker was using a crane on Tuesday night to lift some decommissioned train rails to a boxcar.

The release says a mechanical failure resulted in the man being trapped under a piece of rail as the lift took place.

The worker, who is from the Nackawic area, was able to call 911 and was freed with the Jaws of Life.

The fire department says the man’s injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
