The Lethbridge community rallied together to honour the memories of two-year old Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette and her father Terry Blanchette at a candlelit vigil Thursday night.

Those with no personal connection to the family say the tragedy is hitting home.
“I don’t even know the people, or anything, but happening in a small town not that far from here, out in the Crowsnest Pass…you just don’t think it’s the sort of thing that would happen around here,” said one man.
“I’m a grandma and a great grandma, and I just couldn’t imagine how anything so drastic could take place,” said a woman.

The community came together to show support and to honor memories. It was a meaningful night for those at the vigil.
“What are we alone? What are we alone? We’re not a community, we’re not anything alone,” said an emotional woman.
“Community is very important and sometimes I think we can often forget that… and I think it is important to be together and do things like this.”
Tears shed, with loved ones held close, on an emotional night, for those thinking about Hailey and Terry.
