City of Edmonton eyes cuts to rec centre hours, cleaning

Edmonton residents face reduced hours at recreation centres and civic attractions, less facility cleaning and maintenance, and higher user fees as the city looks at ways to limit next year’s tax hike. Last April, councillors approved about $35-million worth of cuts, fee increases, transfers and other measures to deal with a looming financial shortfall spurred by the recession.
