SaskEnergy getting early start on pipeline upgrades

SaskEnergy is getting an early start this year on work to prevent gas line ruptures in soil prone to ground shifting. 

The Crown utility’s enhanced safety and pipeline program will cost about 40 million dollars — about 10 million more than in previous years.

The company will be focusing on various neighbourhoods in Regina, as well as the communities of Leader and Prelate. 

A home explosion in south Regina last year drew a lot of attention to natural gas leaks caused by ground shifting.
