TORONTO — A three-year-old boy found at the bottom of a swimming pool in the community of Newcastle, Ont. last night has been revived and is recovering in hospital.
Durham Regional Police said the child was discovered at the bottom of a swimming pool at a home where a number of people were attending a party.
An man reportedly jumped in the water and brought him up to the pool deck where CPR was administered by the man and a woman who was attending the party, according to police.

The child then began to breathe and was rushed to Lakeridge Health hospital in Bowmanville, Ont. in serious condition.
Paramedics then transported the child by ambulance to the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where he remains in serious condition.
Police said this is the third incident of a near-drowning in a backyard swimming pool this summer in Durham Region.
Parents and caregivers are urged to be extra cautious when children are around water and police suggest all children wear flotation devices when they are near swimming pools.
