VERNON – Those itching to use the facilities at the new Greater Vernon Athletics Park will soon get their chance.
The athletics park has been slowing taking shape near Highway 97 and is now almost complete. The regional district is planning a “soft opening” this Friday and after that the track and artificial turf field will be open for use.

The athletics park will also feature space for other track and field events like shot put, pole vault and high jump; change rooms; grandstands and a paved pathway.
The regional district says the construction is expected to be finished by September 26 when a “grand opening” is planned.
