TORONTO – The francophone comedy “Starbuck” has won the Golden Reel Award, which recognizes the highest grossing Canadian film at the 2011 box office.
The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, which administers the prize, says “Starbuck” grossed more than $3.5 million last year.

The academy will present the honour at the Genie Awards in Toronto on March 8.
In “Starbuck,” Patrick Huard stars as a sperm donor who learns he has biologically fathered 533 children, all of whom are searching for him.
The film earned top audience prizes at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and the Calgary International Film Festival and was a runner-up for audience favourite at the Toronto International Film Festival.
“Starbuck” is nominated for six Genies including best picture, best actor and best screenplay.
