Armed man arrested in Longueuil restaurant

LONGUEUIL – An 19-year-old Brossard resident has been arrested after barricading himself in a restaurant in Longueuil.

The incident took place at at 11:45 a.m. on the corner of Saint-Hélène Street and Curé-Poirier Boulevard.

The man was reportedly acting aggressive to the clients and staff, who then contacted police.

“The man was arrested around 1:30 p.m.,” said Tommy Lacroix with Longueuil police.

“We know he had a firearm, but was it real or an imitation? We don’t know yet.”

The restaurant was evacuated and there are no reported injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and the street corner remains closed.
