TORONTO – Toronto motorists be warned. Lane blockers and illegal parkers will yet again be the target of a congestion crackdown later this fall.
Toronto Mayor John Tory said Thursday police Chief Mark Saunders has agreed to conduct yet another campaign to reign in parking offenders.

“I’ll leave the timing to him because he’ll decide when he’ll have the resources,” said Tory during a media availability Thursday morning at city hall.
“It’s going to be in the fall, after Labour Day.”

The city began its tag-and-tow campaign earlier this year as part of the mayor’s campaign to ease rush hour congestion.
Hundreds of vehicles were ticketed and towed in the initial phase of the crackdown.
“We’re still having seatbelt blitzes 25 years, 30 years later, so I suspect we’ll be doing this for a long time if we want this to stop,” Tory said.
