Last Election: In 2011, Boivin won the seat for the NDP with 61.8 per cent of the vote. The BQ incumbent, Richard Nadeau, was a distant second with 15.1 per cent. Liberal Steve MacKinnon, who is running again in 2015, earned 14.0 per cent.
History: Françoise Boivin’s name has been on the ballot in this riding in every election since 2004, when she won as a Liberal. She lost as a Liberal in 2006, and lost as an NDP candidate in 2008. This riding had a Liberal MP from 1997 to 2006, and a BQ MP from 2006-2011. It was a Liberal-held seat for all but one term between 1945 and 2006.
