Federal Election 2015: Calgary Midnapore riding results

Summary: This is a new riding in south Calgary. It was mainly carved out of the former Calgary Southeast riding, which has been represented by Conservative MP and Minister of National Defence Jason Kenney since 1997. He is running for re-election, seeking an eighth term in Ottawa.

Boundaries: This riding lies west of the Bow River and south of Glenmore Trail. Neighbourhoods here include Fairview, Acadia, Maple Ridge, Lake Bonavista, and Deer Ridge.

Last Election: If this riding existed in 2011, 75.9 per cent of the votes would have gone to the Conservative party, followed by 10.5 per cent for the NDP. In the former riding of Calgary Southeast, Conservative Jason Kenney won with 76.26 per cent of the vote.

History: Calgary Southeast was created in 1988, and its voting history follows the path typical of much of Alberta, supporting the PC party, then the Reform Party, the Canadian Alliance, and the Conservative Party. Kenney has been elected with at least 70 per cent of the vote since 2004.
