Threat forces British Airways flight to land in Montreal

TORONTO – A British Airways flight from Las Vegas to Heathrow was diverted to Montreal early Wednesday morning due to a threat on board.

A statement from a British Airways official says the aircraft landed safely at Trudeau airport in Montreal around 6 a.m. “after the Captain took the decision to divert the aircraft as a precaution.”

Media reports suggest the plane had to divert from its scheduled flight path due to a bomb threat.

Officials say flight BA274 landed safely and no passengers were injured.

The plane left McCarron airport at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday night and was scheduled to land at Heathrow at 3:25 p.m.

“We are looking after the customers and will provide hotel rooms for them and will rebook them to other flights as soon as we can,” British Airways said in a statement.

The airline said it is working with Canadian authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The flight was carrying 312 passengers including 17 crew members.
