TORONTO – Samsung has lifted the veil on a new Galaxy smartphone that is thinner than any other device the smartphone maker has ever produced.
The Galaxy A8, which is only being released in China, measures just 5.9mm thick and features a 5.7 inch 1080p HD display. Its predecessor, the Galaxy A7, measured 6.3mm thick.
The A8 isn’t the thinnest smartphone on the market, but it does stand out when compared to some of the other devices on the market – for example, Apple’s latest, the iPhone 6, measures 6.9mm thick.
Samsung’s latest Canadian-available smartphone, the Galaxy S6, is 7.1mm thick.
It’s unclear if the company has plans to release the Galaxy A8 in North America.
The phone will retail in China for ¥3,199, or around CAD$665.
