Brad Wall to be late at premiers meeting

“Not my current priority”: Saskatchewan's Brad Wall to be late at premiers meeting. File / Global News

REGINA – Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall says this week’s premiers meeting in Newfoundland is not his current priority. With wildfires forcing 13,000 people from their homes in northern Saskatchewan, Wall says his focus isn’t on the meeting right now.

He says his office has already notified host Premier Paul Davis that he will be late or might not attend at all.

Wall spokeswoman Kathy Young says a decision about whether the premier or deputy premier, Don McMorris, will attend will be made as soon as possible.

The premiers plan to discuss the economy, climate change and health care at the meeting that begins Thursday.

On Wednesday, they are to meet with aboriginal leaders in Goose Bay, and Young says Saskatchewan will have someone there for that.
