TORONTO – During an Independence Day parade at the O.K. Corral… err a Fourth of July parade in New Hampshire, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton kept media corralled behind a moving rope line.

Reporters and photojournalists following Clinton on Saturday were kept away – and sometimes pulled along—as she walked the parade route in Gorham.

Photos of the event, which quickly went viral, show two staff members using the rope to contain the press.

Campaign aides told CNN the rope was used to control the dozen or so reporters so they wouldn’t obstruct the view of potential voters who lined the street to see the presidential candidate.

However, several photos show reporters being dragged by the rope as Clinton made her way down the street.

After the parade, Clinton’s campaign responded to criticism and treatment of the press.

“While the GOP may want to spin a good yarn on this, let’s not get tied up in knots,” spokesman Nick Merrill said in a statement. “We wanted to accommodate the press, allow her to greet voters, and allow the press to be right there in the parade with her as opposed to preset locations. And that’s what we did.”
