WINNIPEG – Lightning, thunder, hail and strong winds swept through Manitoba Saturday, causing flood damage.

A storm started in the evening with heavy rainfall in cities across the province.

“Your guts just turn over and you feel ridiculously sick,” said Robert Bidochka who lives west of Gimli where 82 millimetres of rain fell. “The ditches are full and it’s coming to the house.”

Bidochka and his wife, who has limited mobility, may have to evacuate if the overland flooding gets worse this week.

“It’ll be under the house because it does work its way under and then that’s the problem, you get mould and everything else,” he said.

More than 95 mm of rain fell in Fraserwood, causing several acres of flooding.
