SAINT JOHN, NB – Police say the deaths of two people whose bodies were found in a home in Saint John, N.B., were the result of a murder-suicide.

The Saint John Police Force says it is waiting for final post-mortem results to conclude its investigation and won’t make any further comment.

Officers were called to a home on Red Head Road around 4 p.m. Monday for a well-being check.

Police said when they entered the home, they heard an apparent gunshot.

The scene was contained and a tactical police unit entered the home, where a 51-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman were found dead.

As many as eight police vehicles blocked the road for more than two hours on Monday evening.

On Monday, neighbour Phillip Doiron described the neighbourhood to reporters as quiet and friendly.

“Really, you don’t hear, you know, for something to happen out here. Everybody, everybody usually knows everybody out here. It’s a friendly community,” he said.
