Bust some myths at the Science Centre
Always looking for ways to get the public excited about learning, the Ontario Science Centre has teamed up with the Discovery Channel for MythBusters: The Explosive Exhibition. The special exhibit, which runs until Sept. 13, features an array of props and behind-the-scenes info from the hit show, along with live shows that are equally educational and entertaining. Admission to the MythBusters exhibit, which also gives you access to the rest of the Science Centre, is $27 for adults, $21 for seniors (65+) and youth (13-17), $15.50 for children ages 3-12. Eat some ‘Summerlicious’ food
Summerlicious 2015 officially starts Friday, and with over 210 restaurants across the city offering reasonably-priced fixed lunch and dinner menus for the next few weeks, it’s a great time to experience some fine Toronto cuisine. Celebrate the Pan Am Games
If the temporary HOV lanes around the city haven’t left you completely jaded over the Pan Am Games yet, then you might want to partake in the Bloor Street Torch Relay Community Celebration on Saturday (5 – 11 p.m.). The event, which sees the arrival of the Pan Am flame to the city, includes live music and performances, family-friendly activities, food trucks and the lighting of the Luminous Veil on the Prince Edward Viaduct. Stay out late by the lake
The Harbourfront Centre kicks off its Lakeside Late Nights series Saturday with Body Brake 4.5 Special Edition; a theatrical party that’s “part cabaret, part performance installation, part immersive environment.” The show starts at 10 p.m. and yes, alcohol will be served to those 19+. Catch a movie in a park
The Christie Pits Film Festival opens its outdoor movie summer series Sunday night in Christie Pits Park with a screening of F.W. Murnau’s classic 1922 silent film Nosferatu, accompanied with a live score by musicians Del Bel. The movie starts at sunset. While the screening is pay-what-you-can, a $10 donation is welcome.
