HALIFAX – The mother of a 14-year-old girl says her daughter was turned away from a Halifax children’s hospital during a mental health crisis.
Vicky Morinville says she tried to have her daughter admitted to the IWK Health Centre on the weekend, but was told she wasn’t a harm to herself.
Morinville says the girl was admitted after police delivered her there.
IWK spokesman Nick Cox says the hospital is looking into the matter and is also looking at whether there are procedures that should be changed.
Provincial Health Minister Leo Glavine says in an email that he’s confident the IWK will address any concerns or issues stemming from the matter.
Morinville says he daughter remains in hospital and is receiving good care.
