EDMONTON – In what was first thought to be an out-of-control fire in the Acheson business park turned out to be a controlled burn training exercise in Tuesday evening.
Around 7:30 p.m., witnesses reported seeing flames and thick black smoke coming from the lot.
Dozens of RVs were parked in an area enclosed by a fence.
The Parkland County Fire Department said it carried out a controlled burn of two garages on site as a training exercise for fire fighters, and nothing burned that wasn’t supposed to.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This story originally said several recreational vehicles were destroyed and did not state a cause.
