Acheson business park controlled burn

EDMONTON – In what was first thought to be an out-of-control fire in the Acheson business park turned out to be a controlled burn training exercise in Tuesday evening.

Around 7:30 p.m., witnesses reported seeing flames and thick black smoke coming from the lot.

Dozens of RVs were parked in an area enclosed by a fence.

The Parkland County Fire Department said it carried out a controlled burn of two garages on site as a training exercise for fire fighters, and nothing burned that wasn’t supposed to.
