WATCH: Rumours of a rash of burglaries have residents in Little Burgundy worried, but Montreal police said there was only one confirmed robbery. Billy Shields has details.
MONTREAL — Little Burgundy residents are sounding the alarm over what some are describing as a rash of burglaries.
According to residents like Simon Glew, part of the problem appears to be low-level drug dealing near corners of streets like Coursol and Dominion.
However, Montreal police told Global News that there has only been one recent incident on Coursol Street — reported on May 31.
“There is no rash of break-ins on Coursol,” Anna-Claude Poulin, a spokesperson for the SPVM said.
Yet locals who spoke to Global News described other recent burglaries, too.
Neighbours pointed to a robbery on Quesnel and Georges-Vanier where a kitchen-window break-in took place while residents slept.
The resident at the home where the burglary took place wouldn’t talk to Global News on-camera due to fears of retaliation.
