Caitlyn Jenner: Reality show gets a title, why her name isn’t spelled with a ‘K’

Days after debuting on the cover of the July issue of Vanity Fair, Caitlyn Jenner continues to make headlines around the world.

Here’s a round-up of some of the latest Jenner news from The Associated Press.

What will her reality series be called?

The E! Entertainment network says its documentary series on the former Bruce Jenner premiering next month will be titled, I Am Cait, and is showing a promo video for the series depicting her applying makeup.

The Olympic champion, who revealed this week that her new name is Caitlyn, is featured in an eight-episode series depicting her transition from a man to a woman that will debut July 26.

Where Caitlyn Jenner found her Vanity Fair style inspiration

The stealth Caitlyn Jenner cover shoot for Vanity Fair sprang from her chats with the magazine’s fashion and style director, Jessica Diehl, about inspirations ranging from Lauren Bacall to The Thomas Crown Affair.

In an interview released by the magazine, Diehl called Jenner “all-American in so many ways,” style wise.

“She has certain ideas about what she feels great in. But those ideas are still forming and taking shape. There will be some experimentation and trying things. Welcome to the world of women’s fashion! It’s not always smooth sailing, but I think she has a pretty good idea of what makes her feel good, and those are classic silhouettes,” Diehl said.

Jenner’s debut as Caitlyn for the July cover was released online Monday and will hit newsstands June 9.

The cover shows Jenner, formerly known as Bruce, seated, legs crossed, on a high stool wearing a Trashy Lingerie creamy corset and panties paired with the headline: “Call Me Caitlyn.” Annie Leibovitz shot the photo and several more with Jenner in a gold-sequin gown by Halston Heritage and another off-the-shoulder black number by Zac Posen.

Why Caitlyn isn’t spelled with a “K”

Choosing between a “C” and a “K” for her new name was no small task for Caitlyn Jenner, considering her famous K-heavy family of Kardashians.

In new material from Jenner’s Vanity Fair interview teased Monday online, she said coming up with a new name had her looking in a variety of places.

“It’s one of the hardest things in life – choosing your own name,” she said.

One way she attempted to come up with ideas was by watching the Miss America pageant. She also liked Heather and Cathy, but Caitlyn was a front-runner when her assistant, Rhonda, independently suggested it, Jenner said.

She responded: “I love that name, too!” and the coincidence helped seal the deal, according to Vanity Fair.

But Jenner went back and forth about how it would be spelled, deciding it was best to break the Kardashian tradition.

Jenner, formerly known as Bruce, was married to Kris Jenner and step-parent to the Kardashian clan. Her daughters are also named K-names – Kylie and Kendall.
