ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – Schools are closed today in St. John’s and roads are treacherous as snow and blowing winds are hitting the Avalon Peninsula.
Environment Canada’s weather office in Newfoundland and Labrador has issued a snowfall warning.

Five to 10 centimetres of snow has already fallen and the weather office is forecasting another five to 10 centimetres through the day.
The St. John’s airport is reporting several flights are cancelled.
In addition, many highways are snow covered and police are asking motorists to drive carefully.
