A London, Ont. father accused of stabbing his five-year-old daughter has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
The 38-year-old man made his second court appearance Friday, saying nothing but his name and date of birth.
On Wednesday a court barred the father of four from communicating with his wife or children. The five-year-old girl remains in serious but stable condition in hospital.
The incident happened just after 6 a.m. Tuesday on Applegreen Grove, according to London police. Police said the girl was stabbed multiple times at the family’s home and was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The accused was arrested at the scene on Tuesday and charged later in the day with attempted murder.

London Police Service Const. Melissa Duncan told Global News Tuesday the shocking incident had taken a toll on responding officers, considering the young age of the victim.
“Obviously when a child’s involved there’s many emotions not only for any family members but also the officers that are responding to those types of situations,” said Const. Duncan.
Support from a Critical Incident Stress Management team was provided to officers.
The man’s next court date is scheduled for May 29.
