Former environment commissioner Gord Miller to seek Green seat in Guelph

TORONTO — Gord Miller has his sights set on a run in the next federal election for the Green Party.

He’s expected to formally announce his plans to seek the Guelph riding nomination Wednesday.

Miller stepped away from his post as Environmental Commissioner of Ontario Monday. In a tweet to his followers, Miller said he would continue to use his account but did not mention any political aspirations.

As the commissioner, Miller served as the province’s environmental watchdog since 2000.

The Guelph seat is currently held by Liberal MP Frank Valeriote, who is not seeking re-election.
