SYDNEY – A baby gorilla which was born last week has made a public appearance at Sydney’s Taronga zoo.

The sex of the western lowland gorilla has not yet been determined because it’s mother Frala has kept a tight hold of it since birth.

Staff at the zoo are celebrating the birth as the species is facing increasing threats in the wild, according to local media.

The newborn is the second to be born at the zoo in the last seven months, local media reported.
