Mayor of Goderich takes to YouTube to showcase rebuilding efforts

GODERICH – As the “Prettiest town in Canada” rebuilds from a devastating tornado, the Mayor of Goderich has taken to YouTube to share the town’s optimism.

The video entitled “Goderich: Restore, Rebuild, Renew Canada’s Prettiest Town,” is generating thousands of hits, in just the few days it has been on YouTube.

The four-minute video was edited by Goderich media specialist George Zoethout.

The video showcases footage from across Goderich as the storm rolled in, showing storms rolling in over the water and wind ravaging trees.

One striking scene in the video shows citizens of Goderich inspecting a demolished town square as water can be heard falling from buildings and sirens blare in the background.

One person was killed when the F3 tornado struck Goderich on August 21, 2010.

Though destruction was rampant throughout the town, in the video, the Mayor focuses on rebuilding efforts and is positive about the future of the “Canada’s prettiest town.”
