Both drivers—an elderly man and a middle-aged man—died on scene.

The passenger in the minivan was flown by STARS Air Ambulance to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton in serious condition.

The investigation is ongoing, but RCMP believe driver error was to blame.

*Editor’s note: This story originally stated the SUV was attempting to pass. However, RCMP have since clarified the minivan was attempting to pass when the collision happened.
