Yellowhead Trail closed for bridge demolition

EDMONTON – A portion of Yellowhead Trail east of Edmonton will be closed for 24 hours this weekend as crews demolish the Meridian Street bridge.

East and westbound lanes of the Yellowhead will be closed under the Meridian Street bridge from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 p.m. Saturday.

During the closure, eastbound traffic will be detoured onto Anthony Henday Drive south to access Baseline Road.

Westbound traffic will be detoured south onto Anthony Henday Drive to Baseline Road. From there, traffic will be head west to 17 Street and back north to exit onto westbound Yellowhead Trail.

Detour signs will be in place to direct traffic.

The province says construction on the northeast portion of Anthony Henday Drive is ongoing and will result in periodic closures.
