Funeral held for Latasha Gosling and her children

SASKATOON – A funeral was held for Latasha Gosling and her three children Friday in Nipawin. Several hundred people attended the service at a local church.

“That’s where she grew up, that’s where she went to school, that’s where she graduated,” explained Tim Funk, Latasha Gosling’s cousin.

“That’s where most of her friends still are,” he said.

The bodies of Gosling and her children were found last week by RCMP in their home in Tisdale, in an apparent murder-suicide. The body of her boyfriend, Steve O’Shaughnessy, was found later the same day in Prince Albert.

Gosling’s youngest child, a baby girl, was found unharmed. She’s now being cared for by family.

Friends and family members said Jenika, 8, was an aspiring dancer and model. Her brother Landan, 7, is described as a protector, who was always looking out for his mother and sisters.

Janayah, 4, was known as a fiery redhead who kept busy with gymnastics and dance.

And friends said their mother Latasha was an amazing woman who would do anything for her children, and wanted to give them everything.

Hundreds of people showed up for a candle light vigil Wednesday to remember the family. Many shed tears, and reflected on the tragedy.

“I hope we continue to stay together as a community to support each other through this,” said vigil organizer Louise Schweitzer

Community members continue to rally behind the family, offering love and support.
