NDP candidate Bob Turner has defeated Health Minister Stephen Mandel in Edmonton-Whitemud.
The former mayor of Edmonton called tonight’s defeat “a challenge” for the PCs.
“What’s going to happen now? We’ll see.”
Mandel easily won the seat in a 2014 by-election, after being appointed Health Minister by former premier Jim Prentice.
“It was a real thrill and honour to be the Health Minister for the brief time that I was.”
The riding is in the city’s southwest and had been a PC riding since 1997.
