EDMONTON – Alberta Liberal Leader David Swann says if his team forms government after the provincial election it would put more resources into illness prevention.
Swann says preventing Albertans from getting sick would reduce dependence on hospital beds and surgeries down the road.
He made the comments as the Liberals unveiled their platform to fix health care.
Swann says the key is to bring stability to a health system that has been decentralized, centralized and then decentralized since 2008.
He says the Liberals would expand home care and long-term care and reform the management structure at Alberta Health Services to ensure decisions are kept separate from politics.
Hospitals and other facilities would get expedited care to upgrade and modernize, particularly the troubled Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton.
