WINNIPEG – A highway just east of Winnipeg was closed Tuesday after a tractor-trailer crashed and was left hanging over a bridge.

The trucker from Nevada lost control of his eastbound rig on Highway 15, 7 km east of Dugald, at about 11:30 Tuesday morning. RCMP say a combination of slush, high winds and slippery conditions led to the crash and alcohol was not considered a factor.

The truck crashed though the guardrail on the bridge over Cooks Creek with the cab hanging over the bridge. The driver wasn’t hurt.

“Traffic is being rerouted from Highway 15 down gravel roads. The RCMP asks motorists to please slow down and be aware of emergency crews working in the area,” RCMP said.
