TORONTO – Dramatic video shows two New Jersey officers pulling an unconscious woman from her overturned vehicle before it explodes.

The video captured April 16 on a police dash cam in Kinnelon, N.J. shows the quick thinking officers cut the woman’s seat belt then pulled her body from the wreck before flames consumed the convertible followed by an explosion.

Officers Mark Ehrenberg and Officer Ricky Ferriola are credited for the woman’s rescue.

The footage was first obtained by CNN affiliate WPIX, who reported the officers were called to the crash after a tip from the public of an erratic driver in the area.

The Kinnelon Police Department identified the woman as Dawn Milosky, 45, of Beachwood, New Jersey, who was airlifted to hospital and survived.

Milosky has been charged with driving while intoxicated, having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle and reckless driving with failure to stay in her lane, according to WPIX.

Kinnelon Police Sgt. Chris Carbone told WPIX the department released the video to show the dangers officers face on a daily basis.

“If it wasn’t for the citizen interaction by calling the police about an erratic driver, this woman who was driving, it would have been a fatal motor vehicle accident,” Sgt. Carbone said. “A lot of times, we don’t think of our own safety doing this job.”
