HALIFAX – The Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture says it will ask for funding from the province to help with structural damage caused by a harsh winter.
The federation says this winter’s snowfall has caused about three million dollars worth of damage to agricultural structures across the province, such as greenhouses, livestock barns and machine storage buildings.

Federation president Chris van den Heuvel says storms have made it more difficult than usual to clear snow from the buildings.
He says the federation is gathering feedback from farmers through a survey and will use the information to lobby for funding from the province.
A spokeswoman for the Agriculture Department says that the department is pleased the federation is gathering the information.
Krista Higdon says the department is looking forward to hearing the results from the agriculture group once it has finished collecting the information.
