Saskatoon city crews dealing with snow covered streets

SASKATOON – Spring has arrived but snow has hitched a ride. Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning Saturday night, with up to 10 centimetres of snow expected. An additional two to four centimetres is expected Sunday.

Snowfall mixed with 30 to 50 kilometre per hour winds is creating reduced visibility and poor driving conditions for motorists.

City officials say crews are working around the clock, focusing on plowing and sanding Circle Drive and other high-speed priority streets. In addition, crews are grading, sanding and salting priority roadways and intersections.

Contractors have been employed by the city to help address problem areas. People can report any hazardous locations to public works at 306-975-2476.

The city is asking drivers to pass snow plows and graders slowly and safely.

The temperature is expected to stay at -2 on Sunday.
