MONTREAL — Police believe alcohol may have been a factor in a car crash that left three people in critical condition and another seriously injured.
The accident took place at around 12:20 a.m. Thursday, as the vehicle was exiting the Ville Marie expressway at the de la Montagne Street exit.

According to police, the driver seems to have lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the concrete barrier between the north and southbound lanes.
The jaws of life were used to remove the four people trapped in the car.
Two men, aged 27 and 31, and two women, aged 26, were transferred to hospital.
Police said that one of the women and the 31-year-old man were in critical condition, while the second woman was considered out of danger.
However the 27-year-old driver’s injuries were thought to be life-threatening and police said they feared for his life.
Authorities are investigating the incident, as alcohol and speed may have been a factor.
