Police received a call at 11:40 p.m. reporting a person had jumped from a construction crane at 86 Street and Jasper Avenue.

Officers and Air 1 were sent to the area, and three men in their 20s were taken into police custody.

Police call it a selfish act that impacts the rest of the city.

“These people have little regard for the number of police resources that are dispatched to this type of call – a situation where it was believed someone was in distress,” says EPS Supt. Kevin Galvin, Downtown Division.

“These types of incidents pull police resources that are already overstretched away from those who do require assistance.”

The investigation is still going on, but police say charges are pending.
