TORONTO – Police in Portland, Oregon arrested a man accused of stealing two bicycles and a goat named Penelope.
Oleg Stepanovich Plyushchev, 18, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly trying to sell a stolen bike on Craigslist.
Detectives said a man reported the stolen bike to police after he spotted it for sale on the popular classified site.
Officers made contact with the seller and arranged to purchase the bike, along with a second bike the seller had advertised.
The second bike was also reported stolen.
Following Plyushchev’s arrest, detectives learned the man was also a suspect in the theft of a Nigerian Dwarf Goat.
Penelope was reported missing in August 2014. Her owner told police the goat was tethered and secured in the front yard, and was stolen in the early morning hours.
Penelope was located a few days later at a supply farm. Police allege Plyushchev put the goat up for sale on consignment.
The man faces three counts of theft and computer crime.
